Sina Institute’s keynote speech “Writing a Competitive Proposal” at Tempus Info Day

Sina Institute was invited to give a keynote speech about its success in proposal writing and especially its success in implementing the eGovernement project at the Tempus Information Day, which was organized by Palestine Tempus Office, on 16th of January 2013.

300 academics from Palestinian universities, as well as officials from the EU and Palestinian ministries have participated in this Information Day, which aimed at presenting the upcoming calls in Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, Jean Monnet and Marie Curie programs.

Dr. Mustafa Jarrar, as the Director of Sina Institute of Knowledge Engineering and Arabic Technologies, overviewed Sina Institute’s successful projects: such as, PalGov (funded by Tempus), SIERA (FP7 grant), Wojood (Google funded) GovSeer (Italian funded) and Arabic Ontology (funded by Birzeit University that Sina Institute has either coordinated or was a partner in.

Dr. Jarrar focused on Tips on Proposal Writing; especially,  how beginners can win a proposal, how University Presidents should encourage and support projects, and how a killer proposal should be written.

The event proceeded with presentations by renowned people; including, Dr. Nedal Jayousi, the Director of National Tempus Office in Palestine, Ms. Eva Valle Casanova’s, the Tempus Officer-EACEA of the European Commission, Ms. Lorenza Gambacorta, programme manager at EACEA,  Dr. Nazmi Al-Masri, the Assistant Deputy Rector for external relation of the Islamic University in Gaza, and Prof. Ahmad Abu-El-Haija, the director of the National Tempus Office in Jordan.

The Information Day concluded with an open discussion in which interesting and useful suggestions, questions and comments were interchanged among both the audience of Ramallah and Gaza and the key speakers of the Info Day.
